Don’t Miss the 2015 Alaska Woodturners Association Symposium Held At which is located at 424 W. 54th Ave, Anchorage.  from 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM Featuring Every year our friends at AWA host a Woodturning Symposium where they present Master Turners with International or National status.  You do not have to be an experienced turner to gain education, tips, and skill building techniques from this event. Woodworking Demonstrations for King Career Center Students


Lowell K. the carpentry shop teacher at King Career Center recently asked ACWA if we would consider coming into the shop and doing some demonstrations for the students.  Of course we accepted the invitation.  Lowell really wanted to expose the student to other types of woodworking.  Today Bill P. Saw Sharpening Class


ACWA Will be sponsoring a saw (hand saw or back saw) sharpening class on Saturday September 20th 2014 in Anchorage. The class will be taught by Club Member Jonathan S. who has been sharpening his own saws for a number of years and presently has more than 50 in his shop. The Chris Schwarz Classes were a Success


We wrapped up the layout tools class on Saturday and build 14 Dutch Tool Chests on Sunday & Monday.  A good time was had by all. Don’t forget Chris will be speaking at the General Meeting Tuesday the 29th.  Please come join us. ACWA General Meeting with Christopher Schwarz – April 29th

The Alaska Creative Woodworkers Association is proud to announce that the world renown woodworking author, publisher and hand tool expert Christopher Schwarz is coming to Anchorage. Artistry in Wood 2014

If you haven’t visited the Artistry in Wood show yet, you really should head on over to the Northway Mall.  Some of Alaska’s best woodwork, carving, scroll saw work, and turnings are on display.  The Anchorage Daily News ran a nice story today on the show and there was a big crowd there today. Drill Press Table

The woodworkers are in the process of building new workbenches for use in club classes and events.  We need to bore holes in the bench tops for dog holes and vise bolts.  Club member Don F. recently got a new drill press and we thought it would be the perfect machine for all of the holes we need to drill.  The only problem was Don hadn’t had time to build an auxiliary table yet.  Club members Jonathan S., Bill P., […]
