All day sharpening seminar


Sunday, February 12th.  9:00am – 4:00pm at Anchorage Well and Pump Bring any sharpening gear you have but don’t worry if you don’t, we have some to learn on. Class will be $25 and includes lunch. We will try to cover several types of sharpening from water and oil stones to power sharpening and grinding. Shaker Box Making Class


Join the Alaska Creative Woodworkers on January 7 and 8 as we build a set of five nesting oval Shaker boxes.  Don Faulkenbury will be teaching this very popular class.  We will be steam bending the box bands out of cherry and the lid panels will be birdseye maple.  The boxes will be fastened using copper tacks.  This will be a great class for woodworkers of all skill levels.  You must be an ACWA member to participate in the class.  […]

Build “A Box in a Box” Class


ACWA will be hosting a Build a “Box in a Box” class on Sunday December 11th.  We will be building a small box with an unhinged lid that holds a small sliding box inside with a flocked interior. Beverage Tote Class


Join us November 19th for a fun project for all skill levels.  We will be building a beverage tote that could be also used as a garden tote or tool carrier.  All materials will be provided, including a choice of nickel or black bottle opener.  The tote will be assembled using diamond head cut nails.  Tony will demonstrate a torch finish or you can add your own finish at home.  This project could be a nice holiday gift. Hand Saw Making Class


ACWA Will be sponsoring a hand saw making class at the end of October. We Will be making 22″ panel saws.  We will start with a pre-cut 1095 spring steel plate, that we will tooth on a Foley re-toother.  We will than use brass split nuts to attach our walnut handles.  The class will not cover sharpening, but you will go home with a nice hand saw!  All materials will be provided.  If you want to supply your own wood […]

September Meetings

Last Frontier Wood Carvers season is starting

The April 26th Woodworkers meeting at the Anchorage Museum has been cancelled.  Our scheduled presenter is unable to make it, and we were not able to put another program together. Have a great summer and see you in the fall.
