Peter Follansbee is Coming to Alaska

Alaska Creative Woodworkers Association is pleased to announce that we will be hosting Peter Follansbee in April 2015.  Peter is a joiner who worked at Plimoth Plantation in Massachusetts for many years.  He makes reproductions of 17th-century joined furniture; boxes, chests, chairs, tables & more.  Peter’s work follows techniques and methods from the period, and all his work is done exclusively with hand-tools.

Peter will be teaching a three-day class on making a reproduction of a 17th century carved box similar to the one below.  Class will held in Anchorage on April 25, 26, & 27, 2015.  Class sign up information will be posted in the coming weeks.  Peter will also be speaking at our monthly club meeting on Tuesday evening following the class.

Peter has a great article on making a similar box from a green log on his blog.   Be sure to follow Peter’s Blog for more great 17th century style woodworking.

Hope to see you in class!
